Am I a Candidate for LASIK?

Ideal candidates are over 18 years of age, have held a stable prescription for at least a year, and have healthy corneas. People with certain medical conditions may not qualify. The procedure needs to be delayed in case you are pregnant or nursing. If you have presbyopia, a condition which requires you to wear glasses for reading or bifocals usually when you get in your forties, the laser can correct one eye for distance and the other for near if you qualify. This special type of vision correction is called monovision. Before this procedure is considered, a simulation trial with contact lenses or eyeglass frames is performed to determine whether it is a good alternative for you. Laser vision correction can be performed if you have an eyeglass prescription up to -12 diopters of nearsightedness, +4 diopters of farsightedness and 6 diopters of astigmatism.

If you would like to find out whether you are a candidate for this life-changing procedure please contact us for a complimentary consultation.
